What’s up, Team!?

What a great US Open this year! So much to say about the tactics behind the big match, but there is also something I wanted to get out before then too, looking at Novak Djokovic. He’s still beating almost everyone - everyone except Sinner and Alcaraz…

Good stuff happening at Tennis Tactics - New filming set up coming together and the book is getting closer and closer to launching! Check it out below!

New Content Releases!

To kick-off our US Open analysis, I want to take a Quick Look at how Novak closed out this Taylor Fritz match!

That is 4 out of 4 semi-finals appearances in grand slams this year for Novak. Not too bad, but not what we are used to seeing from him. Might have more to say on that later. But for now, let’s learn from the tactics he used to win his quarter-final match against Fritz!

As always, if you enjoy the match analysis go ahead and like the video and subscribe to the channel if you haven’t already! On our way to 7,000 subscribers!

Tactic of The Week

Shot Sequence

  • Ball 1: Serving on the ad side, out wide

  • Ball 2: Return Deep Cross Court, but in the middle of the court

  • Ball 3: Server’s First ball deep line

  • Ball 4: Returner’s First Ball deep cross

Analysis: As featured in the Djokovic/Fritz video, this is a tactic where the server takes an early risk, changes direction of the ball and hits to the open court. Fritz often made this look good with an inside in forehand. This is a challenging early spread with your serve +1.

As a returner, you are focused on weathering the storm and covering this aggressive spread, but if you do it opens the opportunity to hit cross court and to the open court ant the same time.If you nail the transition, the server will regret it! 🎯
