What’s up, Team!?

This has been a solid behind the scenes week for the channel where I developed a lot of cool assets that I’m excited to share with you soon!

I’m working to build out something that’s more of a collection of tactics and this week I dove deep into a new animation project that will allow me to illustrate some specific shot combinations.

For example, the animation below shows a 1-1 pattern - a shot combination of one shot to one area followed by hitting the next shot to an area on the other side of the court. Sometimes we call it a “Spread” because you are spreading the court.

New animation to talk about shot patterns! Excited about the possibilities for the tactics library!

I have a lot to say about this tactic and others like it, but for now, I just wanted to show you some of the early work that is being done to collect and illustrate more tennis tactics. I do all of my own editing and all of my own graphic design, so when I find new ways to illustrate plays, it’s always exciting! 🔥

I’m excited for the day when tennistactics.com hosts a lot more animations like this along with deep dives on all of the shot combinations! (And that day might not be too far away…😉)

New Content Releases!

Alright, you got me, no new video this week… But I have been deep in research for the next video. Up next is a flash back to Roger Federer V Pete Sampras at Wimbledon.

And, not to build the hype too much, but I was able to do something new in this video which I think you will appreciate. 👀

In the meantime, my data on the channel shows almost all of my subscribers missed my break down of Madi Keys at the Australian Open. I’m really not sure why YouTube didn’t promote this one much, but I think it’s a really cool breakdown! And if you havent seen it, it’s definitely worth watching!

As always, if you enjoy the match analysis go ahead and like the video and subscribe to the channel if you haven’t already! On our way to 7,000 subscribers!

Tactic of The Week

Shot Sequence

  • Ball 1: Serving on the deuce side, up the T (coming in for a serve & volley)

  • Ball 2: Return short & low cross court, but in the middle of the court

  • Ball 3: Server’s First Ball volleyed deep middle

  • Ball 4: Returner’s First Ball hit as a pass up the line

Analysis: This one came up as I was analyzing Federer V Sampras this week.

Notice how the server aims their serve T, attacking the returner’s backhand. The returner’s number one priority is to return this nice and low, forcing the server to make contact with the ball below the net.

The server plays this deep to reaffirm their offensive position, and the returner takes their shot at the pass.

After watching that match, it really makes me realize how little players serve and volley now… And it kinda makes me want to get out there and try it with plays like these!

Tennis Tactics Updates

The book is in editing right now. I’ve expanded the effort to get a few early readers, and the early feedback has been really good! I do all my own writing and editing as well, so having a few people read through my work before it goes out it a huge help in getting something together that I am proud to give to the tennis community!

Looking to launch the book the first week in October this year!

As always, if you are looking for more information on tennis strategy or tennis development plans, check out my website tennistactics.com!
